The Collegiate Church of New York announces $50,000 grant to fight poverty in America’s poorest city

June 12, 2012 (New York, NY) – Reading, PA has the highest poverty rate in the United States among cities with a population of 65,000 or more. As factories, plants and businesses continue to shutter, 41% of its residents are living below the poverty line - less than $22,000 for a family of four. The courage and conviction of the people of Reading during this economic struggle make it the perfect place for a Christmas Eve television special.
