Healing Turtle Island: Event of Cultural Reconciliation Between Collegiate Church and Lenape Indians

The Collegiate Church, established in New Amsterdam in 1628, held a healing ceremony with representatives of the Lenape Indians on Friday, November 27. The date marked the first observance of Native American Heritage Day. “Turtle Island” is a common reference among Indian peoples for the land that European settlers called “the new world.” The ceremony included prayers from both parties, music, symbolic exchanges, a statement of healing, adopted by the 57 member Consistory of the Collegiate Church as an official resolution and a response by representatives of the Lenape people and their kin.

Returning Veterans Meeting: Findings Report & Executive Summary

On October 16 and 17, 2008 The Psychotherapy and Spirituality Institute (PSI) and Intersections International came together to convene a meeting of veterans and those who work with veterans issues every day. The objectives were to provide a place for networking, listen to the experience of veterans, their families, and care providers and identify characteristics and best practices of effective programs. The recommendations for program development were compiled into a preliminary findings report.
